New bag.....

One of the main reasons I love summer is because I only teach in the morning. I get to come home early and finish all the household chores. I also get to spend time in the sewing room. It's just about my favorite place in the house, closely coming in second to the kitchen. My favorite place in the house. I finished another tote/bag today. Here it is for all to see.
Later we are getting ready for a big 24-person dinner we are cooking for. We are barbecuing 5 whole, untrimmed tri-tip roasts along with 5 whole chickens. They are marinating as I type. I will post pictures after the cooking starts.

Summer School...

The first week of summer school has gone by fast....only 4 more weeks to go. I do love teaching, or I would not be teaching in the summer. Normally I teach small children, next year even smaller. I have taken the plunge to kindergarten.....12 years of teaching second grade is a long time. We will see how kinder goes. For summer school I teach grammar and vocabulary to sixth and seventh graders. They are fun and I welcome the change from the younger kids.
As I sit waiting for my younger son to finish up his literature class, I am enjoying my salad in the peace and quiet of my nice air-conditioned class.....waiting to make some felt strawberries.

What a joke!

Why is it that when you buy a keg of beer, you have to give them your drivers license, tell them how old you are, fill out paperwork in duplicate, sign your life away stating that you will not be serving to minors and pay crazy $ for a keg deposit plus a tap deposit? All the while, there are two guys spending $3000 on hard booze for some birthday party, bragging about how they are going to party until people get alcohol poisoning, they did not even get asked for their ID???? What a joke the laws are in this area..... OK have a nice day....

New magazine bag......from my contest winnings....

I finally finished the beautiful magazine tote that I got as a prize from the letmesewlove blog. I love the combination of fabrics. I made the first one,(which is actually the second set of pictures, still working on the whole blog picture thing) then for the second one I made, I changed the pattern to better work the square bottom and also adjusted the ruffles. It still came out beautiful.

Double Graduations

Yesterday was one of the best days..... my oldest graduated from high school and my youngest graduated from junior high. Now they will both be moving on to bigger and better things. We had an open house with lots of great friends and family stopping by. Now the house is clean again, the left over cold cuts waiting for some new sandwiches to be made and the laundry is doing itself.....If I could only get rid of this headache, today would be perfect.
